HIKING IN THE SIMPSON RIVER NATIONAL RESERVE



O que nós fazemos

You’ll set off from Puerto Chacabuco for a panoramic drive along the most famous road in the Southern Hemisphere: the Carretera Austral. From beginning to end, the road is considered one of the most beautiful routes to travel along in the world, stretching as it does for more than 1,240 km passing by ancient forests, pioneers’ farms and turquoise-green rivers, as far as the roaring waves of the Pacific Ocean. You’ll travel along a small section of this famous road, just enough to appreciate some of its beauty: the gushing River Simpson that winds its way through the lush green valleys, little waterfalls with crystal-clear water that cool the rock faces of the mountains, up to the mighty waterfall dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

In this are will make the first detention into the  Simpsón.River National Reserve where you can to obtain a quite complete image about the geography, nature, and wild life in this section of Patagonia  . We will have 30 minutes to visit this Park  .

Continuing our route will stop in the  Mirador Alto Baguales, from where we will be able to observe a panoramic of Coyhaique , and their surroundings.  When arriving to the city we will have 60 minutes for visit the Monument to the Shepherd , the Square and handycrafts market where you can buy a variety of great souvenirs to remind you of your wonderful experience in the heart of Chile’s nature.  . Then we will return for the Valley of the river simpsón to make a detention in Loberías del Sur Hotel, where light refreshments will be served. In this surrounded place of mountains and forests we will make a short walk to observe the spectacular  Vírgen Waterfall, and then we will approach our Bus to return to Puerto Chacabuco.-


O que saber

Please note: The hike lasts approximately 40 minutes, on a mostly flat, dirt track. We recommend wearing casual clothing and hiking boots. Given the latitude, sun lotion is recommended, as well as a sun hat, and a waterproof jacket in case of unexpected bad weather. Space is limited, so please reserve early. The order of stops may vary for purely practical reasons.
