BEST OF ST VINCENT
City Tour, Naturalista, Mar e Mergulho, Drink included
Capture the best of St Vincent, from high above the town at Fort Charlotte to the lush Mespotamia Valley and Botanical Gardens. Take a drive uphill to Fort Charlotte, a former British garrison, completed in 1806. The Fort houses a collection of paintings, depicting the history of the black Caribs. There are also cannons, a signal station and a wonderful panoramic view of the northern Grenadines, the capital Kingstown and beyond. Visit the Botanical Gardens - the oldest in the western hemisphere. The Gardens stand on 8 hectares and are a must for any keen gardener or nature enthusiast. The aviary is also well worth a visit as it is home to many of the local species of parrots including the national bird, the Amazona Guildinglii. The tour continues through the Mesopotamia Valley, the bread-basket' of St. Vincent, through banana plantations and along the picturesque Atlantic coast, with a stop for tropical drinks, Caribbean music and a swim at Rawacou Recreation Park, a beautiful facility made by two beaches separated by a rocky headland with a man-made pool that has a constant flow of water from the ocean.
